Heterotopic Pregnancy: Detection, Diagnosis & Prevention

Join us for an educational webinar on Heterotopic Pregnancy: Detection, Diagnosis & Prevention. This practical case-based session for registered sonographers focuses on optimizing ultrasound acquisition and clinical reasoning for detecting heterotopic and ectopic pregnancy in the first trimester. Through a real-world patient case, live polling, and image-based exercises, participants will sharpen skills from comprehensive adnexal scanning and β-hCG correlation to recognizing diagnostic pitfalls that can have life-threatening consequences for patients.

Learners will:

  1. Recognize clinical presentations of heterotopic pregnancy, including typical and atypical findings.
  2. Apply comprehensive scanning strategies, including proper adnexal assessment and extended sweeps.
  3. Identify critical scanning limitations and technical factors that affect the detection of heterotopic pregnancy.
  4. Differentiate ectopic pregnancy from common ultrasound mimics including corpus luteum cysts and hemorrhagic cysts.
  5. Implement systematic approaches and communication strategies to reduce missed diagnoses and improve patient outcomes.
