Showcase your specialty in CVI

There are three distinct CVI certification tracks.

  • Each CVI specialty signals the highest level of skill in a focused cardiovascular imaging modality, supporting cardiology, nuclear medicine, and radiology.
  • Build clinical legitimacy in your community: Diplomates and Testamurs establish their expertise while maintaining academic credentials and work in publications.
  • CBCCT, CBCMR, and CBNC satisfy employer and institutional requirements and support hospital privileging.
  • Open doors to advanced, competitive leadership roles and medical directorships across cardiac imaging labs, medical centers, health systems, hospitals, advanced imaging programs, and cardiovascular programs worldwide.

Certification Board of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (CBCCT)

Validates expertise in cardiovascular computed tomography for physicians using CT to assess cardiovascular anatomy and function.

Certification Board of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (CBCMR)

Recognizes proficiency in cardiovascular magnetic resonance from patient preparation to post-processing.

Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology (CBNC)

Validates expertise in nuclear cardiology and demonstrates commitment to quality cardiovascular care.

Global Recognition

Since the Council for Certification in Cardiovascular Imaging joined the APCA community in 2015, diplomates have continued to train, collaborate, and practice with leading organizations.

Certification unlocks access to a full community of practice through our sister societies.

Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC): Compliance with radiation safety and medical use protocols
American Board of Radiology (ABR): Certification standards for radiologic imaging expertise
American Board of Nuclear Medicine (ABNM): Board certification alignment for nuclear imaging specialists
American Board of Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Specialty (ABIM): Clinical cardiology and internal medicine standards

" Certification shows that I have undergone rigorous formal testing developed by my peers and leaders in my subspecialty imaging fields. When I express my opinion in my healthcare system, there has never been any question from any administrator questioning if I am qualified to provide quality assessments."
