The Neurosonology (NE) specialty will sunset in January 2027. It will no longer be listed as an active specialty in the directory or on your ID card.

Neurosonology (NE) is not included in the ARDMS Knowledge Confirmation

Maintenance of this certification through 2027 includes annual renewal and attestation, required CMEs, and routine disclosure as needed.

Alternative Exams

Based on a needs analysis study of AB, NE, and PE Certificants, over 60% of respondents agreed with the need to develop a new credentialing examination focused on general Pediatric Sonography.

To align the exam with the needs of current practice, the ARDMS board moved forward in developing the Pediatric Sonography (PS) examination, incorporating components of the NE examination.

Those who currently hold the NE specialty may be eligible for a discount on the PS examination.
