Why the Global CHIVA Program and Why Now

First, what does CHIVA mean in the world of vein health?

CHIVA is short for:

Conservative and Hemodynamic Treatment of Venous Insufficiency in Ambulatory Care

This vein-preserving, evidence-based approach to treating chronic venous disease has been around internationally for decades — and it’s now gaining serious traction for US healthcare. When CHIVA was formally included in U.S. clinician guidance in 2023, it marked a turning point. The science and outcomes were no longer “emerging”; they were recognized.

The science and outcomes were no longer “emerging”; they were recognized.

That milestone created both opportunity and responsibility: to ensure clinicians everywhere can learn, apply, and validate CHIVA care consistently and confidently. That’s where the Global CHIVA Program comes in.

The Tier 1 Pilot Soft Launch in December 2025 marks the first step toward a unified global framework for CHIVA. This initiative will standardize education, assessment, and certification, paving the way for consistent, evidence-based adoption.

A Strong Foundation: Partnership and Oversight

The program brings together Inteleos and Dr. Smile Medical Group (DSMG), guided by the Global CHIVA Program Advisory Panel.

This partnership applies the Inteleos certification model to venous care that:

  • Aligns clinical practice, scientific integrity, and credentialing expertise.
  • Ensures CHIVA’s growth is clinically grounded, academically rigorous, and globally relevant.
  • Promotes evidence-based adoption of CHIVA care.

Together, we are helping evolve CHIVA from a specialized technique into a recognized credentialed pathway and standard of care.

Scaling Global Leadership in Venous Care

For Inteleos, the Global CHIVA Program is a natural extension of our mission: connecting trusted standards, professional competency, and better patient outcomes worldwide.

DSMG complements that mission with its scale and reach around the world, with

  • Headquarters in Shanghai
  • Six clinical centers across China
  • S. operations based in New York
  • Asian Academy of Vein Health in Hong Kong

Together, we’re linking world-class education and real-world practice.

Future Vision: CHIVA Centers of Excellence

In 2027 and beyond, Global CHIVA Centers of Excellence (Tier 2) will deepen this model through advanced training, mentorship, and outcomes-based clinical collaboration.

The result: a pathway toward a more sustainable, accessible, and patient-centered global approach to venous care that is grounded in evidence, community, and accountability.
